About the club

𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐛
In 1984 a dozen or so members got together and formed the Southern Yorke Peninsula Veteran, Vintage and Classic Motorcycle Club. In 1988, after securing a lease of the old Yorketown school's toilet block, work commenced to convert them into club rooms. In 1988 they were completed and officially opened by Harold Twartz (Yorketown Council).

In the early nineties a storeroom and lean-to shed was added. The club stayed as a motorcycle club but as times changed and the advent of Historic Registration the club became bigger and in 2021 changed its name to SYP Historic Vehicle Club. This allowed us to recognise all types of vehicles including cars, motorcycles and trucks.

Today in 2024 with the popularity of old vehicles and the historic registration scheme, we have at the present 110 plus members and some 300 vehicles on club registration. We hold an annual motorcycle rally in February and we are a member of the Federation of Historic Motoring Clubs SA Inc. 

The club has purchased a project car and we hope to hold workshop nights to repair it. We have monthly meetings and regular club runs and try to support community events with displays of historic vehicles.

Our meetings are generally held every second Thursday of the month at 7.30pm. This time of the year we do try and get out and about on Sundays.
